(Essential Moon Cycles, continued)

The Greater Cycle (also the Lunar Year):

 

Theos divides the yearly cycle, into three divisions they call “Quaternaries.”¹

A Quaternary contains 4 Moon Cycles: one for each Element ~ Air, Water, Fire and Earth, in that order. And each Quaternary always starts with an Air Sign because, as Theos consistently reminds us: Everything begins with our thoughts.

Our astrological year, the Greater Cycle, starts with the Cardinal Air Sign Quaternary of Libra, (initiating);

Succeeded by the Fixed Air Sign Quaternary of Aquarius, (grounding/ integrating);

Followed by the Mutable Air Sign Quaternary of Gemini, (changing/evolving).

*An important note here: change/evolution is ever ongoing, taking everything ~ and everyone ~ higher. So the Mutable energy is also that which connects the three Quaternaries and elevates the energy with every round.*

Each Element of each Quaternary serves to move our growth forward in a logical progression:

  1. In the Air cycle, we choose a thought/belief, (or are given an idea from Theos), we wish to change.
  2. Through the Water cycle, we discover and explore the emotions/reactions we have to the thought/belief we are changing.
  3. In the Fire cycle we aim to understand Soul’s/Spirit’s perception of/perspective on, the thought/belief we are changing. This always brings expanded awareness and insights around the thought/belief.
  4. The Earth cycle grounds ~ through integration ~ all the growth we’ve gotten throughout the Quaternary, ensuring we will retain the progress we’ve made.

In Libra, Theos chooses an overall focus for the new year, and usually the group works within that focus as closely as possible. Sometimes though, the work leads us in a new direction, Theos modifies their approach accordingly from Quaternary to Quaternary.

The Aquarius Quaternary offers an opportunity to integrate and anchor the knowledge we have gained in the previous Quaternary into our consciousness. By the time we have done the integrative work through the 4 Elements of this Quaternary, our consciousness has fully absorbed all we have learned and we are ready for the new Quaternary and the evolution it will bring.

In Gemini, we are given the opportunity to change our Totem Friends and our particular “take” on the focus we were given in Libra. What often happens when working with Moon Cycles is an uncovering/discovering of hidden motives or fears which have caused us to resist the higher good our study of TAM leads us toward.

The mutable, changeable energies of the Gemini Quaternary give us the opportunity to modify/evolve the goals and intents we set in the initiating Libra Quaternary. This evolved perspective provides a certain continuity as it leads to the next step on our Path ~ a higher turn of the spiral of our spiritual growth. And a new Libra Quaternary.
