Key Concepts:

Virgo’s motto could be “It is impossible to put off until tomorrow what might be done today or what might even be done, right now.” Virgo’s energies help you to analyze, think clearly through the issue or problem and to discriminate [sift or separate] the “wheat from the chaff”… Virgo is considered the sign of work and self-improvement … these energies generate a ceaseless drive to accomplish and perfect …. Virgo people are perfectionists who dissect facts in order to find the truth and to obtain all the information needed to know truth.

Virgo’s obsession with getting to the truth often leads down blind alleys where concern for detail obscures the overall picture … ambition leads the Virgo native forward … expanding their vision is a challenge for most Virgo’s … everything happens on the interior/inside causing them to be restless and on the move … wanting to be useful and to fulfill their purpose. This is the Sign of the health conscious and germ fetish individual … they‘re prone to worrying.

In ancient times, Virgo was considered the Symbol of the Virgin and the sign of the harvest, “reaping the benefits of knowledge, information and skill building” using it for practical purposes which benefit the whole. Virgo as the symbol of fertility indicates the need to use all the available material resources to maximum effect.

The Virgo is always busily involved in judging his surroundings and relationships. At first, this excessive use of their critical faculties can make them seen somewhat hard and unfeeling. Virgo does not reveal what is within easily and they are in no rush to form superficial relationships. Once the exterior ice has been penetrated, it is easy to appreciate the deep sensitivity which lies within.

There are basically two different types of Virgo: the neatnik and the slob. The fastidious Virgo likes everything to be perfectly in order; the careless type has no patience for social graces or fashion. There is another variation of the negligent Virgo, one whose life is a jumbled mass of indecision. Of course, there are Virgos who have learned to utilize their talents and make of themselves intelligent and highly functional folks. These are calm, resourceful people, seemingly  with a solution for any problem.

Virgos wish to be treated as special and have their own code of acceptable behaviors. If someone should traipse on any of Virgo’s invisible lines, they are often banished forever. This can often prevent them from retaining friendships and cause them the pain of feeling misunderstood. Two of Virgo’s most important lessons involve having more patience with others and a greater tolerance for themselves.

As the sign of cultivation, Virgos are very fussy when it comes to their diet and their health in general. Virgo is called the sign of the ulcer: when a Virgo is worried or upset, (a frequent condition), their mental pains manifest in the stomach. To minimize this situation, Virgos should treat themselves with more kindness, learn not take everything so seriously, and not to take anything personally. When their mind is overtaken with troubles, they really shouldn’t eat … and while true for every sign, Virgos need to be especially careful. As they are prone to perfectionism and criticism of any situation which is not perfect, Virgos should avoid overindulgence of every kind.

Planets in Virgo that are impulsive or expansive, like Mars and Jupiter, are often frustrated by Virgo’s cautionary energies. The planet Mercury may enjoy the detail, the clear analytical aspects that Virgo’s energy would bring. Saturn combined with Virgo could bring stability to the mutable quality of the energy, thereby sharpening discrimination and analysis.
