Key Concepts:
[Note from the Amanuensis: Because the Asteroid Goddesses are more complex in their meaning and how to interpret them in the natal chart, I decided to put a PDF file of the analysis I did called “Concerning the Asteroids” as a link to the image of asteroids accompanying the beginning of this section on the major Asteroids. I highly recommend reading it for a broader understanding of the function of the Asteroids in our natal charts.]
Vesta’s name is derived from the Sanskrit root vas, meaning “shining.” Vesta isn’t the largest asteroid, but she is the brightest and the only one that can be seen with the naked eye. As ruler of Virgo, Vesta represents the reproductive energy of Venus used spiritually to transform and regenerate the self so that it may become a channel of service and healing.
Vesta is the means by which this transition from Leo to Virgo takes place. Individuals with a prominent Vesta can more easily raise their sexual energy from the second chakra [the sacral] to the fifth chakra [the throat], producing the ability for a one-pointed focus, an unobstructed commitment and a persistent dedication to service.
On the inner planes, the transmuted energy brings about personal integration and wholeness. Vesta, as the Elder keeper of tradition, preserves and hands down ancient ceremonies and rituals which provide forms for the descent of magical energy into the physical world. Instead of practicing sexual devotions with the “other,” Vesta turns sexual energy inward to realize the Divine through inner Union with the Self.
There may be a fear of sex or intimacy, as well as an invalidation of self. Denial can be a big aspect when she is negatively placed in the natal map.

Symbology:
The Glyph for Vesta is meant to symbolize a flame … in the form of a triple “V,” pointing downward and inward, symbolizing Vesta’s penetrating, focusing energy that reaches deep within the psyche to illumine our darkest shadows and adding the purification of her flames … bring it all outward where healing can occur. This Glyph can also be seen as pointing to that spark of illumination in the Heart [hearth] where Spirit dwells.
Analysis by Theos:
Theos assigns Ray 1 and Ray 7 to Vesta and points to her position in your natal chart as showing where integration is both possible and probable … her position by Sign and House will indicate difficulties in wholeness and the ability to live what you learn.
You may also consider Vesta’s position by Sign and House to indicate how and where sexual and/or creative energy is most often intentionally utilized ~ whether skillfully or unskillfully ~ and by Aspect, Vesta infuses all she contacts with the power of focus and the ability to connect with Spirit directly.
Vesta brings out your purest potential and Essence. She has a talent for breaking things down into its components. Her negative aspects include insecurity, lack of focus, promiscuity, segregation, secret societies and family troubles.
Physiology:
Vesta governs the metabolism and the upper intestine.
