Key Concepts:
[Note from the Amanuensis: Because the Asteroid Goddesses are more complex in their meaning and how to interpret them in the natal chart, I decided to put a PDF file of the analysis I did called “Concerning the Asteroids” as a link to the image of asteroids accompanying the beginning of this section on the major Asteroids. I highly recommend reading it for a broader understanding of the function of the Asteroids in our natal charts.]
Pallas represents the type of intelligence that extends beyond the mental synthesis of the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity, symbolizing creative intelligence – the flash of insight that spawns new and original formulations of pre-existing possibilities.
Pallas’ essence lies in the interplay between the creative impulse of Leo, the transpersonal social concern of Aquarius, and the balance and cohesion of Libra. Pallas also indicates the kind of relationship we likely had with our fathers and other male authority figures; Pallas also promotes holistic healing techniques, especially mental self-healing techniques such as visualization, affirmation, meditation, mind control, guided imagery and hypnosis.
Pallas symbolizes the movement toward androgyny; in association with the sign of Libra, Pallas has a role in balancing the internal male-female polarity and can help us recognize the indwelling humanity/Divinity of others, rather than judging them according to a sexual stereotype.
Pallas Athene Themes:
Aquarius: wisdom, creativity, learning, intelligence, creative visualization;
Leo: accomplishment, success, status, honor, competition, fears of success;
Libra: sexual identity, sexual imbalances, androgyny, father complexes, sublimated sexuality [exaltation of the creative drive to the throat center], sexual alienation. In Tarot, she is symbolized by Swords and the Justice card.
Pallas Athene Rulerships:
Intelligence: range of intelligence, learning and perceptual difficulties, whole pattern perception, gestalt integration, healing; Arts: hand crafts skills, arts and crafts, leading, woodworking, embroidery, etc.; Justice: social concern, political involvements, government, public service, liaison between government and people, legal matters, diplomacy, mediation, feminism; Vocation: career training, technical skills.

Symbology:
In some interpretations, the Glyph for Pallas Athene resembles both a key and a mirror, surmounting the cross of matter, suggesting that the key to our ability to recognize and deal wisely and creatively with our mirrors lies in the mental approach.
It may also symbolize the spear carried by the Goddess, pointing upward, suggesting the intellect which probes [and severs], seeking knowledge and separating one idea from another to achieve clarity. A final interpretation sees the similarity to a head upon a body, referring to the Goddess’ origin (born from the head of Zeus), her associations with the intellect and the movement from the 2nd chakra to the 5th … from the bottom of the natal wheel, IC, to the top of the wheel, MidHeaven.
Analysis by Theos:
Theos assigns Ray 3 and Ray 7 to Pallas, pointing to her focus on education, evolution, innovation and the law. Our placement of Pallas in the natal chart indicates where we may be “overly” mental in our approach or where we demand that others “follow the letter of the law.” Our Pallas placement could also indicate where we meet our own mental bodies and the House often defines the location of the “battlefield,” as we learn to blend intellect with intuition.
Where her influence falls is where you will find talents in the arts. Jupiter’s daughter carries influence over horses, the father/daughter relationship, intuition, justice, wisdom, legal conflicts and battles. With her spotlight on daddy’s little girl, Pallas Athene will help determine how you interpret your relationship with your father, and in turn how you treat all males in general.
Physiology:
Pallas Athene governs the immune system and the kidneys.
