Key Concepts:

[Note from the Amanuensis: Because the Asteroid Goddesses are more complex in their meaning and how to interpret them in the natal chart, I decided to put a PDF file of the analysis I did called “Concerning the Asteroids” as a link to the image of asteroids accompanying the beginning of this section on the major Asteroids. I highly recommend reading it for a broader understanding of the function of the Asteroids in our natal charts.]

Juno is the energetic activity which leads us towards union … drawing us from isolation into participation with others and helps us to determine if we are cooperating and creating balance or creating power struggles within the relationship. Juno describes the ways in which we face the issues of compatibility, receptivity to others, mutual sharing and trust or jealousy, possessiveness and power struggles.

Juno also focuses on socially correct behavior, glamours as part of the sex magic carried on Ray 7, as well as an outcome of social conditioning about the role of the feminine in Western society and the power of feminine beauty.

Juno signifies the “weak” members of society: battered women, abused children, victims and minorities … Juno shows where it is that we “give up our power” by choosing to defer to others or where we exercise unskillful feminine power, using magnetism for the purpose of manipulation and deception in order to advance socially.

Juno Themes:

Libra: balance/cooperation in relationships; trust and cooperation between equals, committed and spiritual relationships; Cycles, [and cycles of coming together], impartiality and consideration for others.
Scorpio: jealousy and possessiveness, secretive and distrustful, power struggles, emotional attachments, feminine power [or the misuse of it], receptivity to others. Deep transformative powers based on the ability to surrender and find value in one’s role in life. Juno themes symbolize where balance is needed between the masculine and feminine principles in the area of relationships, power and commitment; mystical unions.

Juno Rulerships:

One-on-One Relationships: business partnerships, mates, marriage and compatibility [or lack of it], employer-employee, teacher-student, counseling, receptivity to others. Ceremony and Rituals: engagements, marriages, unions, mergers, divorce, legitimate and illegitimate children, heirs, social protocols, social position, spiritual relationships and partnerships. The Feminine: Cycles, the arts, power, beauty and adornment, superficial valuation based on body image, receptivity, codependency, manipulation, strategizing, conforming, relating, women’s “predicament” in marriage. The Powerless: minorities, the elderly, battered wives, abused children, racial pogroms, religious fractionalization. Atmosphere: weather and money [Juno was the Goddess of the Mint].

Symbology:

The Glyph for Juno resembles a scepter, indicating her high status among the gods and goddesses … it could also be a flower, suggesting both femininity and maturity [being in “full flower”]. This symbol also resembles the Glyph for Venus, but instead of a full circle, Juno’s Glyph has radiating lines of energy, suggesting that creativity is moving outward from center, ready to manifest. It has also been suggested that this Glyph is symbolic of the love affair that doesn’t blossom into marriage, the romance that never becomes a partnership.

Analysis by Theos:

Theos assigns Ray 7 to Juno and points to her position in your natal chart as the place to look for clues to your blocks around commitment and fidelity, as well as the ways in which you seek to draw your desires to you through feminine means, whether skillfully or unskillfully … Juno also shows us where we most easily play the victim or the vamp.

Juno has influence with the weather, flowers, fairness and creativity. She also dealt with many of Jupiter’s infidelities, and thus has influence over the negative issues of spouse abuse, powerlessness, women’s rights (both positive and negative), rage, inferiority complexes and unfairness. She may also affect issues of denial, betrayal, inequality and, of course, bitterness.

Physiology:

Juno governs female genitalia and the organs of reproduction for all genders.
