Uranus in the First House means, “I AM the eccentric.” This results in an unusual and distinct approach to life that says in effect: “After God created this model, He broke the mold. There is no one else out there like me and I will make sure that everyone knows it.” Uranus in the other house positions will tend to create “unique behaviors” in the areas of life ruled by that house. It will also tell the astrologer that the person in question will meet “Uranian types” in/under these conditions.
The sign position will tell us even more. Here are a few examples: A person with Uranus in Cancer in the Seventh House conjunct the Moon in Cancer. Here we have an individual who is very connected to partnering (7th House) with a mother figure, (Moon). Yet the Moon and Uranus could not be more different in expression: the former is the most conservative planet in the heavens while the latter is the most eccentric. Thus the tendency is for this person to meet partners who cannot give them a consistent or predictable type of mothering. They will want this type of nurturing, but their own nature is such that they cannot handle domestic routine nor will they ever, in spite of their own Cancerian leanings, maintain a stable relationship with a “typical” mother figure. They will thus attract “very unusual mothers,” people whose ideas and ways of nurturing will be very different from the traditional maternal archetype. Their own mother was a “unique character,” and the people they will meet will also express their own particular brand of (eccentric) individuality.
Another person with Uranus in Leo in the Eleventh House square to the Sun in Scorpio. This is a person who tends to find themselves meeting up with groups of people whose ideas about how groups should be organized and run are very different than their own. They will have a profound need to individuate through group contacts and connections but at the same time, will feel alienated from such collectives. They will be especially drawn to “unusual” partners, people who have a particular sexual pull on them. Very often they will occupy an important position in such a group. Often, they will experience a distinct conflict between the need for the group (and the partner) but will find that such needs bring them into highly charged and difficult situations.
A person with Uranus in Aries in the Tenth House trine the Sun in Sagittarius (Aries is also on the cusp of the MC) is a person who has to shine in her/his professional arena. It is impossible for them to imitate anyone else. They have to have their own area, their own distinct profile, their own highly individuated contribution, one that will be marked by innovation, courage, and the “urge to go where no one has gone before.” (Gene Roddenberry has Uranus conjunct the MC.) In the course of their adventurous professional life, they will meet other people or groups of people who will initiate them into some very profound knowledge that will help them along on the path. Such individuals will not stay too long in this life; they will make their contribution and then go on their way. As they grow and develop, they may become such an unusual teacher/archetype to others.
As you can well imagine, the examples are many and thus the list of “players in your fields” is quite long. One thing that all Uranian players have in common, however, is that they are unusual and our associations with them brings out the unique and unusual in us.
