The Quincunx (or Inconjunct):

[150° with 1° – 4° orb]   Keyword: Frustration

“Planet X blends with Planet Y, but not harmoniously like a Trine … here the energies combine to produce tension, friction or irritation … resolving this Aspect [through blending the energies harmoniously] sometimes leads to quantum leaps in perception.”

Theos assigns Ray 3 and Ray 4 to the Quincunx: pointing to the need for adaptation (Ray 3) and the solution of harmonizing and blending (Ray 4). This particular Aspect has great value for those who seek to climb and enjoy capping challenge with success. Whether one defines success as satisfaction in achieving a goal or meeting an ideal ~ or one defines success as finding accord where once there was acrimonious dispute. When resolved, this Aspect contributes generously to the fund of the Qualities of Love available to All and furthers the Purpose of our Creator.

The Aspect Potential for the Quincunx: Transformation through Adjustment.

Key Concepts for the Quincunx: Contradicts, creates paradox with, needs to balance with … forces adjustment with … Dilemmas to solve.

Quincunx blend Planetary energies by posing dilemmas and forcing the need for revision … which causes a certain amount of tension and friction. Oftentimes, it’s not enough to really command your conscious attention, but somewhere in the back of your mind, you’re still working on it. This angle causes some confusion and stress in the areas of life indicated by its placement by House and Sign in the natal chart. The resolution of a Quincunx often points the way to unconventional breakthroughs in perception.

The Quincunx can be felt as irritation between two parts of your personality that are totally out of synchronization with each other … however, since the Aspect Potential of the Quincunx is Transformation through Adjustment … through analyzing, adjusting and fine-tuning the personality functions, you are able to resolve the inherent tension and find balance. This Aspect presents a combination which contradicts, creating a paradox or forcing of adjustments.

Quincunx seem to have a fundamental “push me/pull me” thread [or threads] woven into the mix. Motivation may be the intent behind Soul’s placement of a Quincunx in your chart. For instance, looking at the planets involved ~ say Oceana, (Neptune)/Mercury ~ it takes some motivation to resolve the watery transformative powers of Oceana, (Neptune), with the precision in thought and action personified by Mercury. In another example, Pluto/Mercury blend somewhat better in that Pluto’s type of transformation comes through the form of death or destruction, which can be understood by a Rightly-Directed Mind, (Mercury as the Higher Mind).

The strength of the Quincunx is greatly increased when it’s part of a larger configuration in which 2 planets are Quincunx to a third planet and Sextile one another. This is called a Yod (or the Finger of Fate).
