A Conjunction:
[0° with 5° – 10° orb] Keyword: Union
“Planet X gives prominence to Planet Y. The House ruled by the Sign where the Planets are situated takes on the nature of both X and Y … X and Y unite in partnership … X and Y lose their individual identities and merge into one, like lovers … or more accurately, a marriage, which creates a third “party” that combines the Qualities of both participants and results in a blended identity.”
Theos assigns Ray 2 to Conjunctions: and offers that the glamours of Ray 2 contain the “blind spots” so often associated with the Conjunction. This also addresses the blending, merging and synthesizing Qualities of the Will to Unify. Theos says that Conjunctions are an expression of the quintessential quality of the statement: “I AM that and that I AM” … in so far as this expresses the essential duality of Being … “I AM that” (I am an Expression of Soul), and “that I AM,” (I AM a Personality). You, in totality, are being both “I AM” and the “that which IS” expressed by “that I AM ….” We are, as expressions of ourselves as Soul, both the form and the relationship that exists between the form and its Life … which is Spirit…….. Which is how we can BE while we are also Becoming, simultaneously.
The Aspect Potential for the Conjunction: Intensified Strength Through Unification.
Key Concepts for a Conjunction: Merges with (positively or negatively), unconsciously identifies with … merging and interaction of energies.
Conjunctions can be a positive or negative influence in the chart depending upon the Planets and Sign involved. This occurs in part because the Conjunction is not an angular Aspect, which contains characteristics of its own. Conjunctions can unify their energies to yield the strength and power of a well-coordinated team or they can compete with or ignore one another. The keyword here is intensification. For example, the Moon conjunct Saturn can be experienced as emotional (Moon) depth (Saturn), or as emotional inhibition, depending on how skillfully you are expressing the energies. The Conjunction merges – skillfully or unskillfully – the qualities of the Planets involved … and/or unconsciously identifies with the energies exhibited by the Planets.
The Conjunction combines the energies of adjoining planets and is an extremely powerful Aspect as the energies function in tandem, although, as with all Aspects, how the planets combine effectively depends largely on the nature of the planets concerned and how they function in their mutual Sign, (although they can also be in differing Signs). The proximity of planets in Conjunction can generate an immensely productive, high-intensity energy … but because both planets are jostling for the same position, it is often difficult to distinguish which one is doing what and when. This often results in a lack of perspective, a “blind spot” that prevents us from seeing ourselves as other people do. The Conjunction works most effectively when we learn to separate ourselves from our emotions and actions and see ourselves more objectively.
Understanding Soul as a [the] Relationship [between Spirit and Matter] helps us better understand what Theos means when they say the goal is to Become an Integrated Functionality … more than simply an expanded Being, an Integrated Functionality suggests a relationship that encompasses the essential qualities of both parties represented, Spirit and Matter, and yet is truly neither because it is a Synthesis of both … Soul is the bridge which exists to connect Spirit and Matter so that they may Know each other … and thereby Know Themselves. Put another way, Soul IS that Knowing … it is, in a way, pure Consciousness expressed through ~ and expanded by ~ a form……
