Mantras and Kirtan
Ending Mind ChittaWhat is mind chitta? It’s the flip-flopping internal debate over what to do, think, say, etc. It’s that destructive worry stealing your peace. It’s going over and over what he/she/they said or didn’t say or what you did or didn’t say. It’s that never-ending to-do list that is nagging you every spare moment you have. It’s arguing in your mind with yourself or with others or even the radio/computer/television, etc., etc., etc. Obviously, we can’t list every type of mind chitta there is, so hopefully these examples can help you recognize what mind chitta is for you. It’s basically anything that you find hard to let go of and stop thinking about it. See, our Glossary for a more formal definition.
As you grow spiritually, keeping your thoughts clear, high, loving, peaceful, and so on, becomes increasingly important to you … because you understand the Truth about the magnetism of your thoughts. You also understand that as you train your mind, it ~ and your thoughts ~ become ever more powerful. Remembering that we are all telepathic and as we grow spiritually, our personal broadcast is reaching farther and farther, contacting more and more people. Also up for consideration is the fact that you create your reality with your thoughts.
So, how to end mind chitta? One Real aid is the practice of reciting or chanting mantras and the singing of Kirtan. See, “Power of the Word” and Repetition. Theos always reminds us that mantras and Kirtan have been energized for thousands of years. That’s a lot of cycles and a lot of integration of their energy into the very fabric of this reality. They contain sacred words, embodying the highest thoughts the author could conceive. The intent is to uplift, to give thanks, to praise Creator … they are prayers meant to be chanted over and over to focus the mind and open it to greater awareness.
Give chanting mantras and/or singing Kirtan a try. Or just listen to them as you clean the house, cook a meal, sit outside and relax, go for a walk … anytime that listening and/or participating is appealing. You might find your mind becoming calmer, more focused and aware, growing personally and spiritually in leaps and bounds. Happy trails.
