Finding Joy
Where is my Joy? Why aren’t I more Joyful? Where do I find my Joy?
Choose Joy, Joy for Beginners, Joy in Love, Living with Joy, Surprised by Joy, the list of books to show you how to find Joy goes on extensively … the Joy of Cooking gets a little closer. Closer to the Truth about Joy. But it doesn’t need to take a whole book to help you find Joy.
Because Joy isn’t found inside you.
And, in fact, there is no Joy that is your Joy. There isn’t some reservoir of Joy lurking around inside you waiting to be discovered. It isn’t like that at all.
Joy isn’t your natural state. Not on this Plane … not in this reality. The default here is emotion. Joy is not an emotion. Happiness is the closest emotional “relative” you have to Joy. You experience happiness … but happiness is fleeting … it’s unsustainable … literally momentary. The more you try to cling to the feeling sense of happiness, the faster it slips away. Happiness can only live in the moment. It can be spontaneously recalled and relived, but again, that’s it’s moment. Where it lives.
Joy is beyond the moment. It is a state of Being. Joy sustains itself. Joy is Becoming and Being and Becoming and Being all at once. And always there is Joy in the Being and Joy in the Becoming. Joy pervades every moment.
You find Joy by doing things outside of yourself. You lose yourself in the doing … and Joy enters.
Yet you must also Understand … it isn’t about loving the doing … it isn’t loving the object ~ or objective ~ of the doing … it isn’t about love at all. Because that emotional feeling sense you call love, cannot bring Joy.
It’s about finding Joy in the doing ~ whatever the doing may be ~ pleasant or unpleasant makes no difference, so long as it fulfills your purpose in Being … and it leads to you Becoming more of yourSelf than you were before the doing.
More than an attitude, (a crystallized emotion, remember?), Joy is more than a perspective…….
Joy is a way of Being in the world. Being One with yourSelf as Soul and seeing whatever experiences you are having as Soul sees them ~ without judging ~ simply experiencing … and learning. There you will find Joy … if you are looking to find Joy. If you are willing to see things with Joy. And, in looking to see, you will find.
Joy, once found, is never lost.
